An Evening of Drama 2024

An Evening of Drama 2024 is a student-led production by Hwa Chong Institution (College Section). The theme of An Evening of Drama 2024 is “Choice”.

We live in a world where the line between truth and deception grows increasingly murky day by day, where making difficult choices have become the norm rather than the exception.

It might be a choice between embracing reality or our own illusions;
It might be a choice between the lesser of two evils when stuck in a dilemma;
It might be a choice to sacrifice selflessly or to give in to our innate greed.

Any choice, be it big or small, significant or trivial, is a commitment to oneself. It is a a test of one’s inner wisdom, courage, and beliefs.

This year, we bring you a unique experience with a new style of surrealism. Through the various perspectives of our characters, our three plays seek to explore the experience of helplessness, the ups and downs in life, as well as the philosophical dilemmas brought by the freedom of choice.

《黄城夜韵》是华侨中学（高中部）举办的年度大型华文戏剧演出，所有剧目皆由在籍学生自编，自导，自演。今年，《黄城夜韵》的主题为“择”。

在这个愈发真假难辨的世界里，每个人都时刻面对着扑朔迷离的选择。

“择”，可以是虚实之间的懵懂选择；可以是两难之境的别无选择；可以是取舍之间的智慧选择。这些选择或大或小、或轻或重，每一次选择，都是对自己的一次承诺，对认知的一种挑战，对内心智慧、勇气和信念的一次考验。

“择”，既承载了我们对过去的反思，也包含了我们对未来的探索；
”择“，时刻提醒我们在面对错综复杂的未知世界，永远要保持一颗处变不惊的心；
“择”，不仅仅是对行为的一种简单描述，更是对我们生活态度和人生哲学的一次验证。

今年的《黄城夜韵》，将以超现实、超理性、超体验的全新风格为您带来一场别开生面的视觉飨宴。三段令人千回百转的故事，通过戏中人物命运的起承转合，引发观众体验“择“所带来的彷徨与无奈，起伏与转折，沉淀与反思。
