The Nutcracker

Russian Ballet-Feerie composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Premiered 18 December 1892, Imperial Mariinsky Theatre, Saint Petersburg, Russia. 

A story set at Christmastime, when young Masha receives a magical Nutcracker doll. At midnight, toys come alive, and the Nutcracker leads toy soldiers against an army of mice, led by the Mouse King, with Masha’s help defeating the King, transforming the Nutcracker into a Prince who then takes her on a journey through a snowy forest to his magical kingdom for a grand celebration with the Sugarplum Fairy.
